Troubleshooting Problems Caused by EMC on Train Components Civil Engineering

JBA were asked to find the engineering root cause of a difficult long-term reliability problem caused by EMC on train components. By designing and performing structured tests, the root cause was found, and the problem eliminated using a simple maintenance procedure.

A major rail supplier introducing a high-profile new fleet of trains in London listened to customer concerns about door operation in service. The doors were closing unpredictably owing to unnecessary operation of safety systems in stations. This was causing delays and inconvenience to passengers, and threatened to delay the entire project unless a solution could be found quickly.

“The railway operator set a deadline to find a solution by the end of october. the solution was implemented on the fleet and the problem cured by mid-september. JBA were able to integrate technical and organisational expertise to exceed customer expectations” --JBA Consultant
